Chappell Upright Acoustic Piano (Restored)
This Chappell Upright Piano was first sold in 1981. It has a medium touch and a rich, vibrant sound – not too bright and not too mellow. The small brass handles on the lid make an interesting decorative feature.
About Chappell Pianos
Chappell & Company was established in London in 1811 by Samuel Chappell, Johann Baptist Cramer, and Francis Latour. The three gentlemen were already partners in a music publishing business, and they started out retailing pianos in their music store. In the 1840s the company started building their own pianos, and in 1901, the piano manufacturing and music publishing departments of the business became separate, and production of pianos was increased. The Kemble Piano Company of London produced Chappell pianos until the year 2000.
Restoration Details
This pre-owned Chappell Upright Piano has recently (2023) undergone restoration work at our in-house workshop in Wimbledon to restore it to the excellent interior and exterior condition you will find it in now, having had the following work carried out:
- New set of bass strings fitted
- New sets of centre pins for the hammers, levers, jacks, and dampers fitted
- Hammers reshaped
- Stripped down and repolished
- Regulated and tuned to concert pitch
