How to book a tuning:
Booking an appointment to have your piano tuned by one of our highly qualified and experienced piano tuners is easy and simple.
1) Call us (or send us an email)
2) We will organise with you a date for your piano to be tuned.
3) Our technician will arrive on the chosen day/time and tune your piano!
Most piano manufacturers recommend that every piano should be tuned at least twice a year; however more frequent tunings may be required according to the age and condition of the instrument, and fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
Our current (2013) Upright or Grand piano tuning service charge during normal working hours in the local area (inside M25) is £70.00 (inc. VAT).

Why does a piano go out of tune?
The piano is a complex instrument with thousands of moving parts. These are affected by changes in temperature, humidity, how often the piano is played and how often it is moved.
Changes in temperature and humidity cause the soundboard to swell or shrink. The soundboard is connected to the piano strings, and this causes the strings to move with the soundboard. Over time, this changes the tension of the strings and makes the piano go out of tune.
These fluctuations can easily be monitored using a hygrometer (temperature and humidity dial), which is simply placed on top of the piano. If the fluctuations are found to be extreme, it may be necessary to install a piano life-saving system. This regulates the humidity level inside the piano and so protects it from excessive damp or dry conditions, therefore prolonging the life of the instrument. If a piano is played often and is situated in a country where rain is frequent, we recommend that it be tuned 3-4 times a year. If however a piano is played less frequently and for recreational use only, then 2-3 times a year should be sufficient.
